Semi-Annual Event Draws 10,000 to Waterloo Region
ST. JACOBS, ON, Sept. 14 /CNW/ - The population of St. Jacobs and the
Kitchener-Waterloo area will swell this weekend as more than 10,000 Home
Hardware Dealers and vendors gather for the company's 2007 Fall Market,
running from September 15-18.
Home Hardware Dealer-Owners attend the market to learn about new products
and network with fellow Dealers, suppliers and staff from across Canada.
Dealers also have the opportunity to preview and purchase the latest
merchandise for the spring/summer season.
"I have always believed that any renovation project, large or small is
really about managing change and meeting the needs of tomorrow," said Paul
Straus, Vice President and CEO, Home Hardware Stores Limited. "The Home
Hardware Markets provide a great forum for our Dealers to discuss best
practices and help our company continually renovate our business as we grow
and evolve together to meet the needs of consumers."
Home Hardware Dealers will take advantage of the occasion to celebrate
many successes achieved throughout 2007, including the launch of Home's
affiliation with Aeroplan as its exclusive home improvement retailing partner,
resulting in one of the most successful Aeroplan member launches to date, as
well as the overwhelming participation in the Build a Better Home Store
program as Dealers expand, renovate and remerchandize their stores to enhance
customers' shopping experience.

breadth and depth of our people, our products and our service," continued
Straus. "But moreover, it demonstrates our vision for success beyond the
hardware aisle where we help our customers see their projects through from the
planning and building stages all the way to the last finishing touches."
Dealers will also be taking time to enhance their knowledge of Home
Hardware's extensive line of environmentally friendly products and discussing
ways that they can continue to conduct business while minimizing their
environmental footprint. Globe and Mail columnist, Jeffrey Simpson, will
deliver the keynote address based on his soon to be published book, Hot Air:
Meeting Canada's Climate Change Challenge.
Home Hardware's national charitable partners - SickKids Foundation, Tree
Canada Foundation and Special Olympics Canada - will be represented at the
Market with displays, fundraising initiatives and informal meetings.
The Spring Market follows Home Hardware's Pre-Market Conference (PMC) at
the Waterloo Inn on Saturday, September 15. The PMC allows Dealer-Owners and
staff to learn from industry experts at more than 80 seminars during a
full-day session with nearly 750 people expected to attend.

former NHL coach and hockey commentator, Don Cherry.
- Tuesday, September 18, 8:00 a.m. - Keynote Address - Globe and Mail

can do to meet Canada's climate change challenge.
- Throughout the Market - Beauti-Tone Paint Palette Demonstrations -
Representatives from Beauti-Tone will be on hand to demonstrate the
unique new paint colour palette and show Dealers how they can
leverage its design to help customers choose the right colours.
- Various Times Throughout the Market - Distribution Centre Tours -
Guided tours of Home Hardware's state-of-the-art warehouse facility
and distribution centre.
- Various Times Throughout the Market - Burford Paint Plant Tours -
Guided tours of the Burford Paint Plant where Home Hardware's Beauti-
Tone Paint is manufactured.
Visitors to Home Hardware Markets occupy more than 2,500 hotel rooms in
the Kitchener-Waterloo area and consume more than 7,600 meals over the course
of the three-day trade show.
