TORONTO, Dec. 31 /CNW/ - Daily Bread Food Bank's holiday food drive has
topped the 1 million pound target. With 5 days left to go until the official
end of the drive on January 4, 2008, a total of 1,014,000 pounds have been

Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstores and firehalls in the GTA will still be
accepting food until January 4, 2008. While the food drive has reached the
overall target, donations of dry pasta, peanut butter, and baby food are still
greatly needed. Financial donations made up until midnight December 31 are
eligible for tax receipts for the 2007 taxation year. Anyone wishing to make a
financial donation should go on-line at dailybread.ca.
Supporting the fight against hunger during the holidays is easy.
Financial donations can be made securely, on-line at dailybread.ca or by
calling 416-203-0050. Cheques can be mailed to Daily Bread Food Bank; 191 New
Toronto Street, Toronto ON M8V 2E7. The public can drop off non-perishable
food at any firehall, Loblaws, or Real Canadian Superstore in the GTA. The
most needed food items include: baby food and formula; peanut butter; canned
fruit or vegetables; canned fish or meat; cans of stew or hearty soup;
powdered or canned milk; bags of rice; and bags of lentils.
