TORONTO, Sept. 28 /CNW/ - HMV Canada President Humphrey Kadaner is so
confident Canadians will like Magic - the new Bruce Springsteen and the E
Street Band album set for release on October 2 - he promises a refund and
individual letter of apology to HMV customers who purchase the CD and don't
"Magic is one of the best Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band albums
ever released," said Kadaner, a longtime Springsteen fanatic (rumour has it
that Kadaner has seen Springsteen perform live nearly 100 times). "This is
Springsteen's first studio recording with the E Street Band in five years and
it was well worth the wait. Magic really rocks and I'm confident that it will
debut at number one on the Canadian album chart."
Kadaner predicts Magic will be the top selling album in Canada in its
first week of release(*). To mark his wager, the Springsteen buff will make a
$1,000 personal donation to the Daily Bread Food Bank on the release date.
Should the album fail to reach the number one chart position in Canada in the
first week of release, he will double his donation. The donation will be made
in memory of Terry Magovern, a longtime friend and faithful working companion
of Springsteen who recently died and to whom a song on the album ("Terry's
Song") is dedicated.
Magic features 12 new songs. In addition to the cd, HMV is offering its
customers a free video download, free ring tone (the single "Radio Nowhere")
plus, while quantities last, a free lyric booklet.
HMV Canada will be promoting the above noted commitments in print
advertising on October 2 and in its 117 stores across Canada.
