OTTAWA, March 1 /CNW Telbec/ - His Excellency Jean-Daniel Lafond, patron
of Cuvée Weekend 2007, will participate in the annual celebration of the
Ontario wine industry from March 2 to 4, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. He
will offer remarks and award a prize at the Cuvée Gala on March 3.
Accompanied by a delegation of Canadian wine enthusiasts, he will visit a
number of new and established wineries in the Niagara region. He will take
part in an experts' tasting event at Brock University and will lead a
discussion with representatives of the culinary and wine industries at the
Niagara Culinary Institute.
Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General
of Canada, and Jean-Daniel Lafond host hundreds of ceremonies, receptions and
other events in the course of a year. Be it to honour Canadians from all walks
of like, to recognize excellence and accomplishments, or to welcome Canadian
and foreign dignitaries, Rideau Hall highlights the best of Canada's wine,
cheese and other Canadian products at such events.
"Wine is one of life's true delights and part of a healthy lifestyle when
consumed in moderation. It speaks of the country that sustains it and of the
pride of the men and women who produce it. The poets are right when they sing
the virtues of wine while embodying what is best about humankind: the art of
being happy. At Rideau Hall, we take pleasure in sharing the joy of being
Canadian with our guests and hosts, here and abroad, and Canadian wines are
our best ambassadors," says Jean-Daniel Lafond.
Festivals such as Cuvée Weekend allow Rideau Hall the opportunity to
discover the best Canadian wines. Wines served at Rideau Hall come from
Canada's two main wine-producing regions: the Niagara Region in Ontario and
the Okanagan Region in British Columbia.
