Highway 401 Improvements In Cambridge Coming

    McGuinty Government Continues Infrastructure Investments

    TORONTO, Sept. 18 /CNW/ -

    NEWS

Ontario is repaving Highway 401 between Franklin Boulevard and Highway 8
in Cambridge this fall.
As part of the province's preventative maintenance strategy, the
5.5 kilometres of construction will increase the lifespan of this section of
highway, resulting in fewer future repairs - meaning less environmental
impact.
Night work will reduce traffic to a single lane and ramp closures will
occur for a short time. All lanes will be open to traffic during the day.
The $1.9-million construction contract was awarded to Capital Paving Inc.
of Guelph and is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2008.

    QUOTES

"Highway 401 supports the economy of Cambridge by keeping people and
goods moving. Ensuring our highways are in good repair, benefits local
economies and all Ontarians," said Transportation Minister Jim Bradley
(http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/about/minister.htm).

"This project will reduce future delays and ensure one of Canada's
busiest highways stays in top condition, keeping drivers safe," said
Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Leeanna Pendergast (www.leeannapendergast.onmpp.ca).
