Highway 17 To Be Repaved



    
       McGuinty Government Keeping Ontario's Highways In Top Condition
    

    QUEEN'S PARK, Aug. 14 /CNW/ -

    NEWS

    Construction work is underway on Highway 17 near Pembroke to improve road
safety and driving conditions.

    Work includes:
    
    -  Repaving Highway 17 for 6.2 kilometres from west of Renfrew Road 24
       (White Water Road) to east of Renfrew Road 40 (Greenwood Road)
    -  Improving the intersection at Renfrew Road 40 (Greenwood Road) by
       extending the westbound right turn lane
    

    The $2.6-million construction contract was awarded to Miller Group
Incorporated of Markham and is expected to be complete by late fall. During
construction, drivers on Highway 17 will share a single lane as directed by a

    -  The province's $400-million Municipal Roads and Bridges Fund -
       announced in the 2008 Ontario Budget - is helping municipalities
       invest in critical projects across the province.

       highways, roads and bridges and invested $6.2 billion in public
       transit.
