AJAX, ON, April 3 /CNW/ - Approximately 6,000 Veridian customers in Ajax
and Pickering are without power due to high wind conditions between 10:30 and
11:00 a.m. today. Affected customers are primarily located within an area
bounded by Finch Avenue to the north, Bayly Street to the south, Westney Road
to the east and Liverpool to the west.
The high winds caused damage to Veridian's overhead poles and lines in
several areas. All available Veridian crews are working to repair the damage
and restore power. An estimated restoration time is not available at this
Local residents are asked to exercise extreme caution around damaged
poles and downed wires. All fallen wires should be considered live and
dangerous. Residents are urged to report the locations of fallen wires to
Veridian as soon as possible.
