MONTREAL, April 23 /CNW Telbec/ - Heenan Blaikie is proud to have been
named by Canadian Business magazine as one of the 50 "Best Workplaces in
Canada" for 2007.
The firm, co-managed by partners Mr. Norman Bacal in Toronto and Mr. Guy
Tremblay in Montreal, recognizes that this honour is a tribute to the more
than 1,000 lawyers, managers and employees "who contribute every day to making
Heenan Blaikie a workplace where people can learn, grow, and most of all,
perform," says Mr. Bacal. "The quality of our client service, and our
reputation, result from the efforts and dedication of all the people across
the country who provide those services. We consider it a great achievement
that our employees see working here in such a positive light."
Both co-managing partners give full credit to the firm's culture, which
has allowed Heenan Blaikie to maintain a focus on individual success within
the context of firm-wide growth. "The firm today represents businesses and
organizations large and small, in Canada and around the world, and closes the
deals that shape the Canadian business landscape" says Mr. Tremblay. "At the
same time, we nourish and protect a unique culture that respects individual
personalities within a collegial, team-oriented workplace."
The competition for the 50 "Best Workplaces in Canada" is based on two
criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a survey completed by a
random selection of employees, along with open-ended comments about their
organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth
review of the organization's culture, including an evaluation of HR policies
and procedures. This process provides a rigorous analysis of the organization
from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace
culture. More than 20,000 employees participated in the 2007 "Best Workplaces
in Canada" survey.
Since its inception in 1973, Heenan Blaikie has grown to include more
than 425 lawyers and a total of over 1,000 employees in nine offices in
Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. The firm provides recognized
expertise in business law, labour and employment, litigation, taxation,
entertainment law and intellectual property to clients in Canada and abroad,
from all sectors of activity.
