Hearts Can Build, Hosted by Aditya Birla Minacs - A Huge Success!



    In support of the Port Hawkesbury Food Bank Society

    Port Hawkesbury, NS, Feb. 1 /CNW/ - Aditya Birla Minacs announced today
that its first annual Hearts Can Build event was a huge success! Over 3,000
non-perishable food items were collected, $526.00 in community donations along
with Minacs' contribution made the grand total a generous $1,000.00 raised, in
support of the Port Hawkesbury Food Bank and the fight against hunger.
    Hearts Can Build was a community event held at Minacs' Port Hawkesbury
office at 24 Queen Street Extension. Close to 100 people were in attendance,
including local businesses and enthusiastic volunteers who assembled their
donated canned goods into creative sculptures to compete for awards.
    Also in attendance were the Hearts Can Build sculpture judges: Premier
Rodney MacDonald; Aditya Birla Minacs' Jeff Williams, executive vice-president
sales and marketing; and Larry Evans, Chair of the Board of Directors for the
Port Hawkesbury Food Bank Society; and Port Hawkesbury's Mayor Billy Joe
Maclean.
    In recognition of the volunteers who spent hours collecting food and
building their sculptures, special awards were presented to a total of four
companies, including Minacs. Congratulations to the talented building teams
who received the following awards:

    Most Food Raised-NuStar Energy
    Most Original Design-Aditya Birla Minacs
    Best Use of Space-Tri-Mac Toyota
    Judge's Choice-Nova Scotia Community College

come together to provide necessary aid to the Port Hawkesbury Food Bank
