Hbc's In-Store Restaurants Join the Heart and Stroke Foundation's Health Check(TM) program with Healthy Menu Options

TORONTO, March 7 /CNW/ - Hbc today announced that it has worked with the
Heart and Stroke Foundation's Health Check program to introduce healthier menu
items in restaurants located inside Bay and Zellers stores. The program allows
customers to check the menu for a Health Check symbol, which identifies
healthy options.
"Nutrition continues to be an important factor for our customers,
especially when eating out," says Senay Johnson, Hbc Merchandise Marketing
Manager - Foodservice. "We want to provide our restaurant customers with
healthy options that fit their lifestyle and still taste great."
The 'Lifestyle Choices' menu items have been reviewed by Heart and Stroke
Foundation dietitians and meet specific nutrient criteria based on Canada's
Food Guide. Food items are evaluated for total fat, saturated fat, protein and
sodium. The Health Check menu items identify healthy food choices that
contribute to overall healthy eating, not just heart healthy eating.
"We're pleased to have hbc in-store restaurants joining the Health Check
restaurant program. Consumers are looking for healthy options when they eat
out, and the Health Check symbol helps them to identify these items more
easily," says Kathy Furgala, Registered Dietitian, Health Check program.
The program launches at Bay and Zellers restaurants across the country
starting on February 9, 2008 with new menu items to be added seasonally. Some
menu choices include:

    - Morning Berry Crunch with vanilla yogurt & mixed berries, topped with
crunchy granola - 160 calories, 2 grams fat, 125 mg sodium, 4 grams
