TORONTO, July 30 /CNW/ - Jeffrey Sherman, Chief Executive Officer of
Hudson's Bay Company (Hbc), today announced the appointment of Canadian retail
veteran Mark Foote as President and Chief Executive Officer of Zellers. In
this role, Foote will bring his successful track record of building retail
brands to every aspect of Zellers.
Foote, who will start in mid-August, was most recently President and
Chief Merchandising Officer at Loblaw Companies. He oversaw procurement and
merchandising functions for all lines of business, marketing, supply chain and
Foote is best known for his extensive career with Canadian Tire
Corporation where he worked for more than 20 years, including five years as
President, Canadian Tire Retail. During that time, he helped to build the
Company's brand recognition including the development and implementation of
new store formats across Canada. Additionally, he led a major restructuring of
the Company's supply chain capabilities which improved merchandise in-stock
and service levels across the chain. Mark's leadership contributed to a
significant improvement in same store sales and retail profitability.
