Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. drilling started on the Hawk property

VANCOUVER, Oct. 29 /CNW/ - Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. (TSX-V: HPY) (the
"Company") has begun a phase one drilling program on its 100% owned Hawk
copper-gold property, located approximately 50 kilometres northeast of 100
Mile House in the south central Cariboo, B.C.
During 2007, the Company carried out soil and rock geochemical surveys,
geology, and a 3D induced polarization survey focused on an area identified by
recent positive airborne radiometric and magnetic surveys, and historical
work. The induced polarization survey has identified an area approximately
1.4 kilometres by 800 metres in dimension that is underlain by positive
responses indicative of sulphide mineralization that is located east of
historical work. On surface, this area contains biotite-chlorite-epidote
magnetite altered volcanic rocks, and quartz, potassium feldspar and pink
calcite veins and breccia containing pyrite and bornite, chalcopyrite (copper
sulphides). Previously released results include an historical drill hole with
0.61 metres containing 2.0% copper, 6.13g/t (grams per tonne) gold, 28.0 g/t
silver located to the west of the induced polarization anomaly, and surface
rock samples returned 5.0 metres containing 0.88% copper, 1.07 g/t gold, 6.9
g/t silver, and 2.17% copper, 5.35 g/t gold, 15.0 g/t silver, and 2.49%
copper, 3.06 g/t gold, 25.7 g/t silver. Anomalous copper, gold values occur
over an area approximately three kilometres in length and one kilometre in
width.
The geology of the Hawk property is indicative of an alkalic
copper-gold-silver system hosted by Nicola group volcanic rocks, part of the
Quesnel Trough, a belt of island arc volcanic rocks hosting deposits such as
Copper Mountain, Afton, Mt. Polley, and Kemess, all in British Columbia.
Drilling of the Hawk property is planned to include four, wide spaced
holes.
On the Fox tungsten-molybdenum property, hole No.7 has been completed at
a depth of approximately 1500 feet after all drill rods were used. Based on
current turnaround time at the lab, assay results for the Hawk and Fox
property may be expected in early 2008.
