Halifax Gateway Council announces new Chair and Board of Directors for 2009-2010



    HALIFAX, June 11 /CNW/ - The Halifax Gateway Council (HGC) at its Annual
General Members' meeting today elected Joyce Carter, Vice President Finance,
CFO & CSO of the Halifax Stanfield International Airport as Chair. Ms. Carter
replaces outgoing Chair, Stephen Dempsey, President and CEO of the Greater
Halifax Partnership.
    The meeting which took place at the Halifax Stanfield International
Airport also saw the election and re-election of the following individuals to
the Board for the 2009-2010 fiscal year:

    Stephen Dempsey, outgoing Chair, indicated "that this is a time of great
challenge and opportunity for our gateway and that by working together as a
group with one common voice and an effective strategy we can achieve much more
success than by working alone."

continued economic growth," notes incoming Chair Joyce Carter. "Having all
transportation modes supporting each other multiplies our ability to serve our
customers and grow the Gateway."
    The Halifax Gateway Council, established in 2004, is a not-for-profit
organization with a mandate to enhance collaboration among its transportation
providers, to increase growth in air cargo, air passengers, port cargo, and
cruise passengers.
