Grey Island Announces Roll-out of GPS/AVL Real-time Tracking at Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works

Agreement signed to equip 655 trucks across the provincial highway
    network

TORONTO, March 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Grey Island Systems, Inc., ("Grey
Island"), (TSX VENTURE: GIS) announced that it has signed a multiple year
agreement with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works
(TPW) to roll-out its InterFleet GPS/AVL hardware and services for the
Departments fleet of 655 trucks. Total value of today's announcement is
$619,055 excluding monthly services.
The Department is responsible for more than 23,000 kilometres of roads
and 4,100 bridges in the Province of Nova Scotia. The department's Highway
Operations division maintains provincial highways and bridges, manages the
department's fleet of vehicles, ferries. It develops operational policy for
highway construction and maintenance; sets provincial standards; and
co-ordinates activities of a provincial nature. Highway Operation also
provides for enforcement and inspection of commercial vehicles to ensure
compliance with regulations.
The agreement is an extension of project awarded last fall through a RFP
process. The project consists of equipping spreaders, plows and patrol trucks
with InterFleet GPS/AVL. It includes integrations into third-party spreader
controllers to provide quantities and types of materials
(sand/salt/mix/liquids) applied to road surfaces as well as into plow sensors
to monitor plowing activity. The fleet will be tracked at 100 metre intervals
(approximately every 10 seconds) to provide sufficient resolution for risk and
salt management purposes as well as real-time coordination.
"The InterFleet solution is a great fit for TPW's needs". said Dave
Burry, Account Executive for Grey Island. "We are pleased to have been given
the opportunity to work with the Department staff and to showcase our unique
capabilities."
