LONGUEUIL, QC, Oct. 9 /CNW Telbec/ - Ryan Hillier, Liberal candidate in
Longueuil - Pierre-Boucher, believes the support that was given to him today
by the Green Party candidate shows that the momentum of the current election
campaign is now shifting to Stéphane Dion's Liberal team.
"The support Green Party candidate Danielle Moreau expressed in my favour
today is the perfect illustration of Mr. Dion's unifying leadership style,
which is the exact opposite of Mr. Harper's divide-and-conquer approach",
Mr. Hillier noted upon learning of Ms. Moreau's announcement.
"I want to highlight the political courage shown today by Ms. Moreau who
has stood up for her principles, and put the importance of the issues at stake
ahead of partisanship. I am of course very happy that she is inciting voters
who were going to support the Green Party, and those who care about the
environment, to support me come election day. However, I know I will have to
show myself worthy of the trust they put in me if I am elected thanks to their
support. I want to assure them I will do everything in my power to ensure I
will be worthy of the trust they will put in me", added Mr. Hillier.
Mr. Hillier also points out that the support given to him by the Green
Party candidate constitutes further validation of the Liberal platform.
"Throughout the campaign, hundreds of economists, environmentalists, and
independent experts in every field have recognized the validity and relevance
of the Liberal plan. Ms. Moreau's support today adds more weight to all those
voices that have come together in the hope of building a richer, fairer,
greener Canada", Mr. Hillier concluded.
