Grant Thornton moves away from the pack: a new look for a different kind of firm



    TORONTO, Feb. 19 /CNW/ - Grant Thornton LLP in Canada unveils its new
brand identity today, February 19, 2008. What's in a brand? Well, for small
and large firms alike, a brand gives them a unified look -- a personality.

    Doing things differently requires a different look.

    Many Grant Thornton clients know the firm at the local level; they know
the people who serve them personally-and the firm's leadership likes it that
way. However, Grant Thornton LLP is a member of Grant Thornton International
Ltd, whose member firms operate in over 100 countries. With globalization
affecting almost all Canadian businesses, from small to large as well as
public and private, Grant Thornton made the move to adopt a new global brand
to help communicate that this firm, known for their personalized local
attention to client service, can offer their clients global expertise. Joining
them in the move to the new global brand today are 30 member firms of
Grant Thornton International Ltd, with the majority of member firms converting
to the new brand by the end of 2008.
    Why the new brand? Grant Thornton CEO Alex MacBeath explains, "This new
brand actively demonstrates our membership in a leading global organization.
Clients will now be able to instantly recognize firms offering the
Grant Thornton model of exceptional client service. In this highly competitive
environment, we maintain that we are a different kind of professional services
firm, one with a commitment to personalized partner attention and true global
reach. Doing things differently is a bold stance that requires a different
look."

    The logo

    The new logo symbol draws its inspiration from the Mobius loop,
discovered by mathematicians in the 19th Century and created by bringing two
sides together to form one continuum. Its evolution into the Grant Thornton
symbol captures the qualities of a continuous band that looks
multi-dimensional, inherently strong with integrity of form, yet constantly
flexible. It reflects everything coming together into one cohesive whole.
    Purple. The professional services field is largely monochrome, largely
blue. Purple, a colour predominately associated worldwide with leadership,
integrity and governance, was chosen to help differentiate Grant Thornton and
more effectively represent the essence of the brand.

    Imagery

    The firm's new brand identity uses four different types of imagery
including illustration, portraiture, icons and black and white photography.
All contribute to the objective of developing a rich, creative brand: a brand
that demonstrates bold and positive leadership; a personal, human approach;
and clarity in thought and delivery.
    A new brand to communicate an ongoing local and global commitment to
distinctive service and bold leadership in the profession-Grant Thornton is
now wearing its client service promise on its sleeve.
