Grand Erie Teachers and Occasional Teachers Approve Tentative Agreements

TORONTO, April 28 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers and
occasional teachers, members of the Grand Erie Elementary Teacher Local and
Occasional Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario
(ETFO), have reached tentative collective agreements with the Grand Erie
District School Board.
"The ETFO takeover teams have done a fantastic job for our members. They
met with the board on numerous occasions and bargained around the clock to get
the deals," said ETFO President David Clegg. "These agreements benefit
elementary teachers and occasional teachers, the Grand Erie District School
Board, and elementary students," Clegg said.
Details of the agreements will be available following members'
ratification votes.
The Grand Erie Elementary Teacher Local represents approximately 1,000
public elementary school teachers and the Grand Erie Occasional Teacher Local
represents approximately 480 occasional teachers. Their last contracts expired
August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
