Grade 9 students from across Canada will be experiencing a day at work on November 5, 2008

The Learning Partnership celebrates 14th annual Take Our Kids to Work(TM)

TORONTO, Oct. 24 /CNW/ - Thousands of Grade nine students from across the
country will be participating in Take Our Kids to Work(TM) on November 5,
2008.
Now in its 14th year, Take Our Kids to Work is an initiative created by
The Learning Partnership, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to
championing a strong public education system in Canada. Take Our Kids to Work
enables students to job shadow a parent, relative or volunteer host and to
experience first hand some of the career options that will be available to
them.
"Take Our Kids to Work enables the whole country to showcase the career
possibilities available to students," says Veronica Lacey, President and CEO
of The Learning Partnership. "This is a unique opportunity for employers to
demonstrate future career possibilities to a group that will soon be planning
their paths for the future."
In addition to rolling out the program in every province and territory,
the organization also develops and distributes guidelines for parents,
teachers and workplaces which include recommendations for the development of a
program agenda as well as a health and safety orientation.
"We urge every employer to consider the benefits of participating in this
national program", adds Ms Lacey. "This program has given young people the
chance to plan and dream and our country will be the better for it in the
years to come."
Whether it's being a chef, journalist, lawyer, paramedic or even a Mayor
or Premier, students from across Canada will be experiencing a day at work, in
all sectors, including healthcare, arts, sports, government, corporate,
technology, labour and non-profit sectors. To learn more about the Take Our
