Governor General welcomes Children's Miracle Network champion children



    OTTAWA, March 29 /CNW Telbec/ - Her Excellency the Right Honourable
Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will welcome some of Canada's
Champions for a reception in their honour. The young representatives from the
Children's Miracle Network, will be at Rideau Hall at 10:30 a.m., on Friday,
March 30, 2007.
    The Champions Across Canada program is designed to honour remarkable
children who have overcome or continue to deal with medical challenges in
their daily lives. Twelve children were selected for the program, and they are
visiting Ottawa en route to Orlando, Florida, where they will participate in
the taping of a segment for the annual Children's Miracle Network Celebration
Broadcast, the world's largest annual television fundraiser
    The Children's Miracle Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to
saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for its 170 member
children's hospitals across North America, 14 of which are in Canada. One
hundred per cent of the funds raised by the Network are distributed to member
hospitals. Each year, the organization serves more than 2 million Canadian
children and their families.
    Please note that the opening remarks will be open to the media. Media who
wish to cover this event are asked to arrive at the Princess Anne Entrance by
10:15 a.m.
