The Honourable Helena Guergis, Minister of State (Status of Women), is
proud to announce that the Quebec Community Groups Network will receive
$45,645 over nine months for its project, Leadership Building in Rural Quebec.
The project seeks to enhance the leadership skills of 30 anglophone women ages
18 to 30, living in rural areas of Quebec, to increase their economic and
social participation in their respective communities.
"As Minister of State (Status of Women), I believe in the tremendous
potential of girls and young women in Canada," said Minister of State Guergis.
"And our Government believes in the power of women's leadership to shape a
better future for all. For society to benefit from the contributions of women
leaders, now and in the years to come, we must inspire, encourage and
challenge all women, but especially girls and young women. This is what we aim
to achieve by supporting the Quebec Community Groups Network."
Funding for the project Leadership Building in Rural Quebec comes from
the Women's Community Fund of Status of Women Canada.
Status of Women Canada is a federal government agency working to promote
