MORIN HEIGHTS, QC, March 14 /CNW Telbec/ - Gourmet du Village is a family
business where every employee is a member of the family. "Together, we are
mourning the loss of three very close and dear friends, Barbara, Sharon and
Marilyn," said business owner Mike Tott. "My wife Linda and I are still in
shock as a result of this terrible tragedy, we deeply share the immense
suffering and sadness of their families and of those who worked with them. The
whole community of Morin Heights is affected by this, their outpouring of
support is truly appreciated."
"No efforts have been spared nor will be, to continue to provide any
support and counselling our employees need. We are all grieving over the
tragic and sudden departure of Barbara, Sharon and Marilyn.
We wish to thank the community of Morin Heights, the firefighters and
other volunteers who risked their own lives to save our friends, to pay
special tribute to those exceptional employees who went into the building to
assist in the exit of others who were trapped."
Snow had been cleared from the roof a few times since the beginning of
this exceptional winter and snow removal had a again been scheduled to take
place the very same day this accident occurred.
The catastrophic accident of the collapsed roof at Gourmet du Village`s
warehouse and subsequent fire can only be the result of an exceptional
occurrence, both unfortunate and unforeseeable.
