Good news: hard times aren't hitting the big hearts of Canadians, reveals NESTEA Vitao(TM) survey

    TORONTO, May 20 /CNW/ - Today, NESTEA Vitao(TM) - an enhanced iced tea
with vitamins C and E plus calcium - launched a national campaign to support,
acknowledge and spread goodness across Canada. Canadians are invited to share
their act of goodness stories at www.releasethegoodness.ca from May 18, 2009
to December 31, 2009.
    In concert with the launch of the Release the Goodness campaign, the
makers of NESTEA Vitao(TM) polled Canadians to find out what their thoughts on
goodness are. Turns out, Canadians are not letting the current economic
downturn affect their spirit of goodness. In fact, survey results revealed
that 45 per cent of respondents stated that they always seize the opportunity
to perform an act of goodness. The Angus Reid Strategies survey also found
that more than half of those polled (55 per cent) reported that Canadians are
helping each other in abundance.
    "The NESTEA Vitao(TM) Release the Goodness campaign is about shining a
light on the goodness we do everyday," said Helen Gushue, Senior Brand
Manager, NESTEA Vitao(TM). "This is our way of continuing to spread and share
the spirit of goodness - from the goodness in the bottle, to acts of goodness
by Canadians. NESTEA Vitao(TM), an enhanced iced tea, has been embraced by
Canadians because it offers the goodness of natural tea antioxidants, vitamins
C and E plus calcium."
    To celebrate this generous spirit, NESTEA Vitao(TM) is asking Canadians
to share their stories of goodness at www.releasethegoodness.ca. Canadians can
log on to view other stories of goodness, and can vote online for their
favourite ones, from June through December. A monthly winner(*) will receive
$5,000 to help them spread their goodness and inspire others to do the same.
With the support and vision of NESTEA Vitao(TM), an enhanced iced tea,
Canadians from coast-to-coast have the opportunity to take part in a national
movement that encourages, inspires, spreads and recognizes goodness.
    Setting the stage for the Release the Goodness campaign, NESTEA
Vitao(TM), an enhanced iced tea, organized open casting calls in March to
capture real stories about everyday acts of goodness from real Canadians. The
result: four authentic and incredible acts of kindness are being shared with
Canadians through billboards in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, plus eight
more at www.releasethegoodness.ca. The Release the Goodness billboards capture
the spirit of these real Canadians and the act of goodness they share with a
meaningful hug. And just like the hugs in the campaign photos, 33 per cent of
Canadians surveyed have been so inspired by an act of goodness that they have
hugged a stranger to say thank-you.

    About the Survey

    From April 30 to May 1, 2009, Angus Reid Strategies conducted an online
survey among a randomly selected, representative sample of 1,009 adult
Canadians. The margin of error for the total sample is +/ 3.1%, 19 times out
of 20. The results have been statistically weighted according to Statistics
Canada's most current education, age, gender and region Census data to ensure
a representative sample of the entire adult population of Canada.
Discrepancies in or between totals are due to rounding.
