MONTREAL, Oct. 3 /CNW Telbec/ - Golf Legends for Children, a unique
charity event under the honorary co-presidency of Jack Nicklaus and Gary
Player, was held on October 1st at the Laval-sur-le-Lac Golf Club, and raised
$2,550,000 for sick children.
Jack Nicklaus and his wife Barbara are very committed to the cause of
sick children. "As parents and grandparents, we are very conscious of the
impact a child's illness can have, not only on the child's life, but also on
the lives of the loved ones around them," said Jack Nicklaus.
Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player are not only unique golfers and veritable
legends of this sport, but they are also deeply involved in the well-being of
children through their respective foundations. The Nicklaus Children's Health
Care Foundation focuses on childhood diseases and disorders, including
leukemia and cancer. The Gary Player Foundation's mission is to provide
education for underprivileged children around the world. "I am convinced that,
along with love and good health, education is one of the greatest gifts you
can give a child," said Gary Player.
Tracy and Marc Bibeau, who launched Golf Legends for Children and were
the co-presidents of the event's organizing committee, said they were
delighted with the results of the day. "The cause of sick children is
particularly close to our hearts and we are happy that this event has met with
such success. We know that the funds raised will make a real difference for
the children," they said.

while 400 guests attended the evening's festivities, including personalities
