Golden Harp's MC Zone demonstrates near surface bulk tonnage potential; Hole GH-025 returns 43.75 metres of 1.02 g/t gold (including 10 metres of 2.25 g/t gold) in fuchsitic ultramafics



    VANCOUVER, June 10 /CNW/ - Golden Harp Resources Inc. (TSXV:GHR) today
announced results from the Company's phase one drill program (2,043 metres,
12 holes) on the MC and Cook gold zones on its Copper Hill Project. The
project is located 100 km south of Timmins, along Highway 560 between Shining
Tree and Gowganda, Northern Ontario.
    The drill program, completed April 28, tested a series of coincident
Induced Polarization (IP) geophysical targets and Mobile Metal Ion (MMI)
anomalies along strike from the historical Cook Zone; as well as a surface
gold occurrence (1.17 g/t Au over 25 metres - Trench 2, Cyprus Canada, 1994)
associated with a broad IP target on the MC Zone. Ten of the twelve holes on
both the Cook and the MC zones returned significant gold values. Details on
the diamond drill holes and gold intercepts are presented in Tables 1 and 2
below.
    Drill results from the first two holes on the MC Zone were very
encouraging and the broad gold intersections demonstrate near surface bulk
tonnage potential. Both holes contained several significant gold-bearing
geological units. The primary geological environment (fuchsitic ultramafics or
green carbonate altered ultramafics), hosting the gold on the MC Zone, is well
documented in the Abitibi and is responsible for substantial gold production
from various mines (Kerr Addison) along the Cadillac Larder Lake Break. Golden
Harp is now planning a substantial second phase drill program to continue
testing the MC Zone along strike and at depth to evaluate both the near
surface bulk tonnage potential and determine if there is potential for
higher-grade mineralization at depth.

    MC Zone Highlights:

    Two holes (625 metres) located approximately 35 metres apart provided a
preliminary evaluation of a previously untested gold occurrence documented by
Cyprus Canada.

    
    -   The MC Zone is comprised of three volcanic units designated the West
        Felsic Unit, the Green Carbonate Unit and the East Felsic Unit. All
        three units contain distinct gold bearing zones. The gold bearing
        zones are associated with varying amounts of pyrite and quartz within
        a distinct stratagraphic package.

    -   The most prospective unit to date is the Green Carbonate Unit. In
        Hole GH-025 the Green Carbonate Unit returned 43.75 metres grading
        1.02 g/t Au including intervals grading 1.67 g/t Au over 16 metres
        and 2.25 g/t Au over 10 metres. When the Green Carbonate Unit gold
        values in Hole GH-025 are combined with gold values obtained along
        the lower contact with the East Felsic Unit, a wide gold bearing
        mineralized envelope grading 0.88 g/t over 54.90 metres is noted.
        Similarly, the Green Carbonate Unit in Hole GH-023 returned broad
        zones of mineralization including a 12.93 metre interval grading
        1.17 g/t Au and a broad mineralized envelope which assayed 0.73 g/t
        over 28.28 metres.

    -   The main IP anomaly associated with the MC Zone is 150 metres wide
        and has a strike length of approximately 400 metres. Further, there
        are a series of parallel IP anomalies to the east of the main IP
        anomaly that have not yet been evaluated. Both, the northern
        extension of the main IP anomaly and the parallel IP anomalies, have
        documented gold occurrences in surface trenches, which have not been
        drill tested. The trench on the northern extension (T5) returned
        0.32 g/t Au over 50 metres including a 10-metre interval grading
        0.63 g/t Au. A trench (T3) located on one of the anomalies running
        parallel to the main MC IP anomaly assayed 1.28 g/t over 17 metres.
    

    Results are also pending from a MMI soil-sampling program conducted in an
area where the strike extensions of the Cook and MC gold-bearing zones are
projected to converge. This information will assist in prioritizing drill
targets along the southern extremity of the main MC Zone IP anomaly for the
next program.

    Cook Zone Highlights:

    Golden Harp drilled 10 holes (1,418 metres) to evaluate a new surface
gold occurrence and a series of coincident MMI and IP anomalies to the east of
the historical Cook Zone. These holes confirmed potential to extend the strike
of the main occurrence and identified a new gold environment.

    
    -   Holes GH-020 to GH-022 were step out holes located 100 to 200 metres
        SE along strike of the historical Cook Zone. These holes were drilled
        to test a series of coincident IP and MMI anomalies. Hole GH-022
        intersected minor gold values, 1.75 g/t Au over 0.6 metres, on the
        northern side of a dyke associated with the Cook Zone. The bulk of
        the historical drilling on the Cook Zone has been conducted on the
        south side of this dyke. New mineralization on the north side of the
        dyke suggests potential to extend the strike of the main occurrence
        to the north.

    -   Hole GH-021 intersected a large gabbroic intrusive with disseminated
        sulphides. Sporadic gold values were obtained both within the gabbro
        unit and proximal to its upper and lower contacts. An intercept of
        3.44 g/t Au over 0.54 metres was noted in a structure proximal to the
        upper contact of the gabbro. The lower contact of the gabbro along a
        diabase dyke returned 2.55 g/t Au over 0.53 metres. The presence of
        gold in association with crosscutting gabbroic intrusives represents
        a new gold environment in the vicinity of the Cook Zone that has not
        been previously considered or evaluated.

    -   Hole GH-020 tested a coincident MMI anomaly and magnetic low
        geophysical anomaly. The cause of the magnetic anomaly was
        interpreted to be an alteration zone with minor gold mineralization
        over narrow widths. The gold mineralization intersected was the
        likely cause of the surface MMI gold anomaly. The alteration zone and
        minor gold mineralization represent a second new gold environment not
        previously considered or evaluated.

    -   Holes GH-010 to GH-016 tested the new Cookie Jar gold occurrence and
        proximal MMI anomalies coincident with an IP anomaly. Low gold values
        in association with minor sulphides explained both the geophysical
        anomaly and MMI anomalies. Minor gold values were detected when
        evaluating the down dip extension of the Cookie Jar gold occurrence.

    All gold assays for this program were completed by Swastika Labs using
industry standard fire assay procedures. A series of blanks and standards were
also submitted with each 20-sample batch for quality control purposes. Further
check analysis for gold utilizing total pulp metallic assays will be completed
on various portions of the MC Zone. Results from this further testing will be
press released in a timely fashion upon receipt of assays.
