Golden Band Resources Inc. - New gold zone (RKN Zone) discovered at the 6/6 Target

    GBN: TSX Venture Exchange

SASKATOON, June 26 /CNW/ - Golden Band Resources Inc. (GBN:TSXV) is
pleased to provide the final results of its 2008 winter drilling program on
the Company's 100%-owned 6/6 Target anomaly - Golden Heart Gold Deposit area,
in the La Ronge Gold Belt of northern Saskatchewan. The standard fire assay
and metallic screen assays results for all drillholes completed during this
program are summarized in Table 1.

    Highlights:
    -----------
    - 156.6 g/t Au/2.74 m (RKN-06-08, including 1,138 g/t Au/0.37 m)

    - 5.18 g/t Au/8.40 m (RKN-08-08, including 17.73 g/t Au/0.94 m and
        10.65 g/t Au/1.5 m; this is within a 34.40 m-wide quartz vein zone
that hosts visible gold in several locations).

With the discovery of this new gold zone, named here as the "RKN Zone",
Golden Band is very pleased with the results from it's first drill program at
the 6/6 Target. The occurrence of coarse, high-grade gold in drillhole
RKN-06-08 (see previous news release of April 16, and photos on the Company's
website) and the existence of a 34.40 metre wide quartz vein zone (see photos
on the Company's website) hosting local visible gold in drillhole RKN-08-08
(which is a step-out hole from RKN-06-08) indicate that significant gold
mineralization exists in this area, the extent and potential of which will be
followed up on a priority basis. Accessibility during summer in what is
largely a swampy area will be somewhat limited. (see map at
http://files.newswire.ca/725/Figure1_26June08.pdf)
Frank Hrdy, Golden Band's V.P. of Exploration, stated, "All of the
drillholes from this program are gold and sulphide mineralized and are altered
over significant intervals, which indicates that a large hydrothermal
mineralizing system was present. Gold is deposited by such hydrothermal
systems and, often, the larger the system, the better the chance that a large
gold deposit could exist. The presence of coarse, high-grade gold in drillhole
RKN-06-08 and a 34.40 m wide quartz vein zone with local visible gold in
drillhole RKN-08-08 - which is a step-out hole 12.5 m from RKN-06-08 -
indicate that a significant gold zone exists in this area. What we need to do
now is figure out how big this new gold zone really is! Follow-up drilling is
clearly warranted."
The objective of the 2008 winter drill program was to follow-up the very
strong soil gas hydrocarbon (SGH) anomaly obtained from sampling done adjacent
to the Golden Heart gold deposit in the summer of 2007 (see news release of
October 10, 2007). A total of 1,500 m of drilling was originally planned with
the objective of determining if any significant gold mineralization exists
beneath the large (350 m x 200 m) and very strong SGH response (rated 6 on a
maximum scale of 6).
The program completed a total of 2,086.6 m drilled in eight holes. As
time/weather allowed, and with encouraging mineralized core, an additional
hole, RKN-06-08, was drilled in the approximate location of drillhole W84-40
(a hole drilled in the 1980's that is coincident with the northeastern edge of
the SGH anomaly and that had two intersections of 29.9 g/t Au over 0.9 m and
10.0 g/t Au over 1.0 m). The 1984 program when that hole was drilled was run
by Ron Netolitzky (now Golden Band's chairman), after whom the RKN Zone has
been named.
The decision was made to drill another hole, RKN-07-08 to test the updip
extension from RKN-06. Upon completion, continued cold weather allowed a
stepout hole, RKN-08-08, to be drilled approximately 12.5 m to the southwest
of RKN-06-08, which intersected a 34.40 metre wide quartz vein zone hosting
local visible gold.
In addition to the 6/6 Target, now called the RKN Zone, a second
4/6-strength SGH anomaly lies 200-300 m northwest of the RKN Zone and adjacent
to the historical A Zone occurrence (see Figure 1). This response, named the
NW 4/6 Target, has an overall size of 100 x 200 m. It again appears to be
untested by previous drilling. The correlation between the SGH responses, the
hydrothermal mineralization, and related gold will be further tested with
these other targets.
TSL Laboratories in Saskatoon assayed all of the core samples from this
program. TSL is an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited facility. Standard fire assays
with an AA finish were performed and "screened metallic" assays with a
gravimetric finish were also undertaken on samples that were thought to
contain coarse or nuggety gold. The quality assurance/quality control of the
fire assay and screened metallic samples was monitored by the Company using
sample standards and sample blanks which were routinely inserted into the
sample sequences.

    About Golden Band

Golden Band Resources, already Saskatchewan's leading gold explorer, is
now poised to also become a gold producer. Golden Band is a well-financed,
Saskatchewan-based, publicly listed company (GBN:TSXV) whose focus is the
long-term, systematic exploration and development of its 100%-owned La Ronge
Gold Belt properties. Since 1994, Golden Band has assembled through staking
and strategic acquisition a land package of more than 750 km(2), including ten
known gold deposits, four former producing mines, and a licensed gold mill.
Golden Band's key value drivers are the methodical and systematic targeting of
primary to advanced-stage exploration while progressing along a parallel path
to becoming a sustainable gold producer. The Company is aggressively pursuing
its near-term goal for the development and production of its 100%-owned Bingo,
Komis, and EP deposits with processing at the 100%-owned Jolu mill - a project
that received a positive expanded Preliminary Economic Assessment (scoping
study) on February 26, 2007 (filed on SEDAR on April 10, 2008). Longer-term
objectives include production from the Company's other deposits and the
continuation of its highly successful exploration and acquisition strategy.

    Table 1 - Comments

    1. RKN-03-08

"FA" = Fire Assay, "MA" = Metallic Screen Assay.

    2. RKN-06-08

Trace to minor amounts of visible gold were observed between 95.7 to
96.2 m and at 98.1 m. The 1,138 g/t Au is an average of two metallic
    assays (1,194 and 1,083 g/t Au) over 0.37m.

    3. RKN-08-08

    The interval between 86 m and 120.4 m comprises approximately 20-30%
massive quartz veining with intensely silicified diorite and fine quartz
veining making up the remainder of the interval. Trace to minor amounts
of visible gold in quartz veins were observed in three locations between
94 m and 97.2 m. This type of gold enrichment (i.e. coarse gold) has an
    extreme nugget effect.

The length-weighted average grade of this 34.4 metre wide quartz vein
zone is 2.18 g/t Au over 34.4 metres or 5.18 g/t Au over 8.4 metres if
only the higher grades are included (this calculation uses the average
grade of metallic assays where 2 values exist, the metallic assay grade
where only 1 metallic exists and the fire assay grade where no metallic
    assays exist).

Note 1: Due to the occurrence of coarse gold in this zone, two "screened
metallic" samples were performed on each drillcore sample for the
34.4 metre wide (down hole) quartz-rich zone in drill hole RKN-08-08 to
ensure that all of the coarse gold would be detected (i.e. the entire
sample was used up in the two analyses).

Note 2: Values in bold lettering represent length-weighted average gold
    grades.
