GO Transit workers ratify contract settlement

TORONTO, Nov. 3, 2011 /CNW/ - It will be service as usual on the GO Transit system following the early morning announcement from Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1587 that the settlement reached late on October 23 has been ratified by its membership.

The new three-year agreement calls for wage increases of 2 per cent in each of the first two years, and 2.3 per cent in the third.

The union represents 650 GO vehicle Operators, as well the system's Coach Technicians, Station Attendants, Office and Professional Staff and Service personnel - 1530 workers in all.

GO Transit is owned and operated by Metrolinx, the Ontario government's transit agency for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area.
