TORONTO, Jan. 4, 2008 /CNW/ - GO Transit and Amalgamated Transit Union
Local 1587, which represents most of GO's employees, reached a revised
tentative agreement tonight in negotiations for a new collective agreement.
There will be no GO Transit strike on Monday morning, January 7.
The revised tentative agreement must still be ratified by GO Transit's
Board of Directors and in a membership vote by ATU Local 1587. The dates for
ratification are yet to be determined. The agreement's details are not being
released at this time.
ATU Local 1587 represents about 1,170 of GO's 1,460 employees. Unionized
staff include GO's bus drivers, station attendants, transit enforcement
officers, maintenance personnel, and office, professional and technical staff.
