GMV Minerals Inc. announces drilling resumption—good mineralization being encountered

VANCOUVER, Sept. 22, 2011 /CNW/ - GMV Minerals Inc. (the "Company" or "GMV") (TSX‑V: GMV) is pleased to announce that drilling in Guyana has returned to near normal operating conditions.  The Company is drilling on the Zev showing and is completing a grid over the area of the previously announced well-defined geophysical anomaly.  The spine of the grid runs down the resistive unit and the grid lines cross the anomaly.  The Company has now completed approximately 2000 meters of drilling.

The Company is currently drilling its 9th and 10th hole and is generally running two shifts on a 24/7 basis.  On-site geologists indicate that the drill core on holes 3, 5 and 8 contain very siliceous, brecciated greenstone (sediments and volcanics) with up to 2-5% sulfides. There is visual confirmation of pyrite and arsenopyrite within this targeted horizon and Company geologists have identified possible microscopic free gold contained within several core intervals.  However, this must be confirmed by fire assay determination and results are pending.  The Company has completed sufficient holes penetrating this horizon to confirm the presence of mineralization.

Upon viewing the drill core, Mr. William Woolford, recently retired Commissioner of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), stated "The drill core presently encountered is similar in occurrence to the mineralization at other gold rich deposits in Guyana". Hole 8 was completed to 372 metres. The zones of primary interest were intersected in several bands with increased silicification and sulphides over 20 - 40+ meters thick.  Well bedded sedimentary units with low angle quartz veins containing variable amounts of sulfides were encountered between the silicified intervals.  Also veining with large, open-space, vuggy texture was encountered.  Assays are pending, however previous assay results have taken up to 3 months to return partial results.  This assay turnaround time is now expected to decrease significantly due to increased lab capacity at Acme Analytical (Laboratories) Guyana Inc. in Georgetown.   Check sample pulps are also being shipped to a second lab.

The Company intends to announce further details concerning exploration and results pertaining to its vast airborne geophysical survey shortly.
