MONTREAL, Sept. 21 /CNW Telbec/ - Leading North American manufacturer of
consumer lighting and electrical products, Globe Electric Company Inc., is
partnering with Concordia University for an important and exciting project.
Fifty International Business Law students from the John Molson School of
Business are being given the chance to try their hands at developing
international business plans.
The students will be challenged to conduct feasibility studies for the
entry of Globe into 13 currently unoccupied international markets. They will
have to take into consideration Globe's current corporate structure as well as
the new markets' legal, cultural, and financial environments.
Advances in technology have made the global marketplace smaller than ever
before. To be successful, students will need to understand their country's
laws and structure and they will have to maintain a global perspective - a
crucial skill in today's business world.
"We are very pleased to be able to help create such an important learning
experience," says Edward Weinstein, President and CEO of Globe Electric. "Many
students don't get the opportunity to move beyond the classroom, thereby
missing out on critical training. With this project, Globe is allowing this
valuable learning to take place."
Globe will be opening the doors of its Montreal office to these students
to allow them to tour the facility and speak to Globe managers from various
departments. Representatives from all areas of Globe, including, marketing,
product development, logistics, IT, sales, and finance will be available to
answer questions and provide guidance.
For 75 years, Globe has been an innovative leader in the residential
lighting and electrical industry. Globe develops tailored, category-focused
