VANCOUVER, March 29 /CNW/ - CanWest MediaWorks is pleased to announce that
Global News and CH News have won six 2007 Regional Radio-Television News
Directors Association (RTNDA) Edward R. Murrow Awards, including best newscast
(small market) and overall excellence in the international region.

The regional awards that Global News and CH News received are as follows:

    Global BC (large market)
    - Overall Excellence for a compilation of Global BC's best news stories
over the past year, including the November 15th News Hour broadcast
and ongoing coverage of the West Coast storm.

    - Best Investigative Reporting for "Home Inspectors," Elaine Yong's
in-depth, under-cover story exposing the loopholes that exist in
policies regulating home inspectors. For the story, Yong tested the
process and applied to become a home inspector herself and was shocked
at how easy it was to become certified. This report prompted the
provincial government to review its policies.

    - Best Feature Reporting for "Native artist Norval Morriseau," a story
by Linda Aylesworth on how a chance meeting between two people enabled
a homeless aboriginal to blossom into an internationally acclaimed
artist who is described today as a "national treasure."

    - Best Videography for "Tree into House," dramatic footage of a large
tree falling and destroying the front side of a house in West
Vancouver. The moment of destruction was captured by Sergio Magro
during an interview for Global BC's ongoing storm coverage.

    Global News Ontario (large market)
    - Best Continuing Coverage for "Terror Threat," a series of stories
highlighting the fact that the threat of terrorism is real in Canada.
Global News Ontario followed the arrests of the terror suspects,
including the beginnings of their ground breaking trial and provided
blanket coverage how the communities were affected. Global News also
conducted tests to see whether potential targets in Toronto were
prepared to guard themselves against a terror attack.

    CH Vancouver Island (small market)
    - Best Newscast for its December 13th ongoing coverage of Vancouver
Island's clean-up from one of the worst winter storms on record. This
is the station's second best newscast win in four years.
