VANCOUVER, Sept. 13 /CNW/ - As Ontario heads into a hotly contested
provincial election, Global National anchor and executive editor Kevin Newman
will lead his team on a four-day road trip across Southern Ontario,
broadcasting live and on-location from some of the communities that could be
most influential in determining voting results.
This special series will focus on the communities that are major
contributors to the economic and cultural life of the province but that are
often overshadowed by the city of Toronto.
"We wanted to showcase some of the emerging cities that are really making
an impact on the province's success," said Newman. "We're going to dig into
what these cities are doing to stay competitive in Canada. We have Oshawa
which is a city in transition, Barrie where its rapid growth has resulted in
major environmental concerns, Waterloo as the new intellectual capital of
Canada and London where we'll broadcast from the historic University of
Western Ontario to examine how universities are adapting in the 21st century."
