CALGARY, Oct. 3 /CNW/ - Global Energy Services Ltd., (GLK - TSX Venture),
is pleased to announce Pembina Institute, a leading independent,
not-for-profit environmental policy research, consulting and education
organization, has declared Global Energy's patented Activator Hydraulic
Submersible Pump (HSP) as a 'best practice.'
In a written report, based on quantitative and qualitative data, and for
given application scenarios, the Pembina Institute evaluated Global's patented
HSP with various competing technologies: conventional pump jacks, progressive
cavity pumps, and hydraulic pump jacks. Several performance criteria were used
to effectively compare the competing technologies on a life-cycle basis:
noise, footprint and visual impact, efficiency, air emissions, leaking,
operational performance, and economic performance. The results showed Global's
patented HSP to have superior environmental and social performance
characteristics. Matt McCulloch, Co-Director, Pembina Corporate Consulting,
added, "Based on the available quantitative and qualitative data for the given
application scenario, including positive landowner and operator feedback,
Pembina believes this pump can be considered a best practice for industry at
this point in time."
To validate the HSP's environmental performance, a leading oil and gas
producer in North America, selected the HSP over competing technologies for
environmental reasons: low visual impact and quiet operation. The company
stated the landowner did not want the large footprint or the associated noise
emitted by a pump jack. By utilizing Global Energy's HSP, this company was
able to meet the environmental needs of the landowner and economically produce
reserves that otherwise would have been stranded.
"We are extremely pleased that our HSP technology has superior
environmental and social performance characters in comparison to other
competing technology offerings," said Farhan Farshori, Vice President,
Corporate Development. "This environmental edge over various downhole pumps in
Western Canada, leveraged with our patented technology, positions Global
Energy to continue to grow this business segment as landowners and
environmentally conscious companies become more aware of our HSP."

Institute website and Global Energy website. The full version of the report is
