Gérald Tremblay is pleased to welcome Mary Deros to the Union Montréal party

MONTREAL, Dec. 12 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Gérald Tremblay, leader of the Union
Montréal party and mayor of Montreal, is pleased to announce that Mary Deros
has decided to join his party. Mrs. Deros, city councillor for the district of
Park Extension in the borough of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Park-Extension, has

"I am pleased to welcome into our ranks an experienced city councillor
like Mary Deros since she shares our vision as well as our values. Mary Deros
has already held several important positions at the Ville de Montréal and was
member of the city's executive committee responsible for sports, recreation
and social development. Mrs. Deros is a compassionate, generous and dedicated
individual who has been extremely active in her community for many years. I am
proud to welcome her to our political party," said Mayor Tremblay.
Mary Deros said that by joining Union Montréal she will be able to better
serve the interests of her constituents.
"I sincerely believe in the future of Montreal. I feel that by joining
the Union Montréal party and becoming a member of the Tremblay-Zampino
administration, together we will be able to ensure the best quality of life
possible for the citizens of the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Park-Extension borough
as well as for all Montrealers" said Mrs. Deros.
Mary Deros was elected as the city councillor for the Park Extension
district in 1998 and 2001 and was a member of the executive committee from
1998 until 2001. She was elected to a third mandate during the municipal

Mrs. Deros' decision to leave Vision Montréal means that Union Montréal
now has the majority of seats on the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Park-Extension
borough council.
Mr. Tremblay and Mrs. Deros will be available for media interviews today
at 9:20 a.m. at Montreal city hall just outside of the council chambers prior
