The Innovation Awards highlight developments in 30 different hardware and software categories, ranging from analog ICs to silicon intellectual property. EDN editors selected the finalists in each category, and invited the magazine's worldwide readers to vote for the winner using an online ballot.

The industry's first IC to support the 800Mbps speed provided by the 1394 Automotive standard for in-vehicle multimedia networks, the MB88395 is designed for vehicle navigation, Blu-ray discs, and HD frame using high-speed transmission. The controller uses a high-speed physical layer and link layer along with the Fujitsu proprietary SmartCODEC, which provides high compression and can transmit HD video without perceptible latency. Because 1394 Automotive can be configured as a multiplexing network, multiple video and audio streams can be transmitted simultaneously over the same physical layer.

"We are honored that EDN Magazine has recognized Fujitsu's leadership in next-generation automotive networking technology," said Philip Hughes, senior director, Automotive Business Group, Fujitsu Microelectronics America. "The MB88395 is an innovative and technologically advanced device that brings the HD experience to rear-seat entertainment."

About Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc.

Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc.
