Fuel-friendly cars and trucks, including hybrids, prove popular with
TORONTO, Aug. 1 /CNW/ - Canadian drivers continue to turn to Toyota and
Lexus for fuel-friendly vehicle choices - achieving record sales in July. TCI
sold 21,990 Toyota and Lexus cars and trucks in July, up 18.3 per cent from
the same month last year to set new sales records for both brands, led by the
- Sales of the Canadian-built compact Toyota Corolla rose 35.9 per cent
- Canadians bought 2,584 Canadian-built Toyota Matrix crossovers - up
14.4 per cent.
- Toyota RAV4 compact SUV sales of 1,721 were up 19.3 per cent.
- Toyota Highlander mid-size SUV sales of 376 were up 337.2 per cent.
- Lexus set the pace in the luxury industry with overall sales up 27.6
per cent in July led by the ES 350 at 370 sales, up 30.7 per cent this
In addition to these fuel efficient choices, customers favoured Toyota
and Lexus hybrid vehicles with 914 purchases this July, led by Prius at a
sales increase of 137.0 per cent year to date.
