TORONTO, May 20 /CNW/ - Fred Fuchs, general manager of production enterprises for CBC Television, today announced his departure from CBC to take up a new role as Canadian executive producer of John Weber's Take 5 Productions co-production of "Camelot."
"After four fast-paced and highly successful years with CBC, Fred has decided to return to a part of the industry we know is close to his heart," says Richard Stursberg, executive vice-president of CBC English Services. "While at CBC, Fred was instrumental in bringing a record number of hit CBC TV productions to television - and online - including Heartland, Little Mosque on the Prairie, The Border, Tudors and Being Erica. More recently, he took a leadership role in the establishment of our feature film initiative and our Telefilm partnership, both of which remain priorities for CBC in developing new and innovative ways to release and distribute Canadian films. While Fred will no longer have a formal, ongoing role with CBC, we expect to continue to see him in his new executive producer role."
"I want to thank Richard and all my colleagues at CBC for four wonderful years," Fuchs says. "It was a privilege and honor to contribute to making Canada's public broadcaster such a successful entertainment brand. I look forward to continuing to work with CBC and other Canadian broadcasters and producers to create more high-quality entertainment content."
CBC's feature film initiative will continue under the leadership of Marcela Kadanka as senior executive in charge of movies, Stursberg says.
CBC is actively pursuing relationships and structuring deals with producers in Canada and abroad that will allow the national public broadcaster to bring the best of Canadian content to audiences across the country and across multiple platforms. CBC's film initiative and its Telefilm partnership were created with a view to closely following theatrical releases with broadcast on CBC Television and distribution via other platforms.
