TORONTO, Oct. 20 /CNW/ - Late on Friday October 19th, 2007 the Royal
Canadian Mounted Police, Toronto Drug Section Clandestine Laboratory Team,
arrested and charged five persons with the possession of fifteen kilograms of
MDMA - street name "Ecstacy".
As the result of a vehicle stop, officers located 15 kgs of MDMA, in
tablet form, in the vehicle. Fifteen kilograms of Ecstacy would yield
approximately 125,000 tablets.
Officers are currently searching a residence on Piper Green Road in the
McCowan and Finch area of Toronto and due to the volatile nature of
clandestine laboratories every precaution is being taken by the RCMP. On scene
are emergency first responders - fire, police and ambulance personnel as well
as representatives from Health Canada.
Yan SHI, age 31, of Toronto, Ontario.
Wei Qion MA, age 29, of Toronto, Ontario.
Yao Quan JIAN, age 20, of Toronto, Ontario.

"We are currently dismantling a fully functional clandestine drug
laboratory ecstacy tableting operation. Due to the nature of the investigation
we will take all measures to ensure the safety of the neighbourhood and the
community," stated Sgt. Brent Hill, of the RCMP Chemical Diversion Unit. "We
are finding with increased frequency, operations of this type in residential
neighbourhoods, where the operators obviously have little regard for the
safety of the surrounding community. This house was previously used as a
marihuana grow operation."
All accused will appear today in Old City Hall Courthouse for bail
hearings. Further charges and arrests may be possible.
