First Look Forges Ahead

LOS ANGELES, April 10 /CNW/ -- First Look Holdings (formerly Nu Image FLS
Investments) has named Avi Lerner and Henry Winterstern as Co-Chairmen of the
company. Both men take the reins after First Look Holdings acquired a
controlling interest in First Look Studios. First Look Holdings is jointly
owned by the Nu Image Group and Winterstern. Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short
are the other directors of First Look Holdings.
Lerner, who is also co-chairman of Nu Image, stated, "This is a great
partnership. We each bring to the table different expertise, internationally
and domestically, operationally and financially. First Look provides a
logical platform for Nu Image and Millennium Films productions. We are
fortunate to have Henry as a partner. He was the architect of this deal. We
will rely heavily on his knowledge of the domestic market and financing."
"I am thrilled with the direction our studio is headed," says
Winterstern. "This is a golden opportunity. Avi, Danny and Trevor are
talented, astute businessmen and prolific producers. They have had phenomenal
success in the international market, and with this partnership, we will repeat
that success domestically. "
The partnership between Nu Image and Winterstern began with the
announcement of First Look Holdings acquiring a controlling interest in First
Look Studios in early March. All involved saw the financing of the deal,
orchestrated by Winterstern, as a winning move. The synergies between the
individuals and the businesses of Nu Image and First Look will allow First
Look to continue its rapid growth as a leading independent studio.
Lerner and Winterstern will focus on film acquisitions and theatrical
releases. Additionally, Winterstern will be responsible for financing,
mergers and acquisitions. International sales of the First Look library and
new product will be handled by Nu image under Dimbort's direct supervision.
Short, who is primarily responsible for legal, financing and administrative
operations at Nu Image, will have similar responsibilities at First Look.
Stepping into the wide-release arena on April 13, First Look opens AQUA
TEEN HUNGER FORCE COLON MOVIE FILM FOR THEATERS on over 800 screens.
In the fall the high profile comedy KING OF CALIFORNIA starring Michael
Douglas and Evan Rachel Wood, produced by Millennium Films and directed by
Mike Cahill, sets the stage for the studio's future acquisitions and
productions.
First Look will also release THE CONTRACT, a film starring Morgan Freeman
and John Cusack, and produced by Millennium.
