The ceremony opened the door to the first Chinese investment in the
research of 1 million RMB ($140,000.00) by the Guangzhou Municipal Science and
Technology Bureau for SCUT's project resources commitment. The funding is
expected to be in place within 90 days and will be matched by TEI in-kind.
SCUT and TEI are in discussions with the provincial and federal levels of
Chinese government for additional funding requirements. The THERMALONOx(TM)
R&D program was reviewed against many other applications for funding.

Thermal Energy CEO Tim Angus took the opportunity to reaffirm the
company's commitment to China, the world's largest consumer of coal-fired
power and other energy sources.
"China represents a tremendous business and growth opportunity for a
company like Thermal Energy as well as an opportunity to work with some of the
leading scientists and researchers in energy and environmental technologies at
SCUT," said Mr. Angus.
The agreement is a two-year deal which will include demonstration-scale
testing access to a coal-fired power plant slip-stream in China. SCUT has
selected the Guangzhou Yuancun Heat and Power Ltd. power plant in Guangdong
province as the site for the project. Laboratory tests in Canada have shown
the new THERMALONOx(TM) process can remove more than 98% of nitrogen oxides
(NOx) from a simulated flue gas stream.
