VANCOUVER, Sept. 5 /CNW Telbec/ - Members of the Communications, Energy
and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP) Local 206 working at Navigata
Communications Inc., have voted in favour of accepting a first collective
agreement by a majority of 92%. Navigata is a Sasktel Company with offices in
B.C., Alberta and Ontario.
"Congratulations to the bargaining committee for their hard work and
perseverance," says Wendy Sol, CEP's Administrative Vice-President for the
Western Region. "First agreements are always difficult, but the committee
remained strong thanks to the support of the members throughout the process."
This solid first collective agreement is for a three-year term.
Improvements include a move to a job classification and wage band structure,
enhanced extended health, dental and maternity leave benefits, job security
provisions, hours of work, overtime, on-call, call out and shift premiums.
CEP is a broad based labour union representing 150,000 workers in many
industries across Canada.
