Firesteel appoints Director - strengthens its technical team

    VANCOUVER, March 28 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors of Firesteel Resources
Inc. ("Firesteel" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of
Mr. David Mehner, B.Sc., M.Sc., P.Geo to the Board of Directors of the
Company. Dave has over 30 years of experience in the mineral exploration
industry. He holds a B.Sc. (Honours; 1976) and an M.Sc. (Geology; 1982) from
the University of Manitoba. Until 1985 he worked for Cominco Ltd. exploring
for copper and gold in British Columbia. Since 1986 he has worked as a
consulting geologist on exploration projects throughout Canada and Mexico, in
northern Alaska and Russia. Mr. Mehner is a past director of 3 junior mineral
exploration companies and is currently a director of a private, Russian
exploration company. He is a member of the Association of Professional
Engineers and Geoscientists of BC and the Geological Association of Canada.
Dave resides in Vernon, British Columbia.
    The Board is also pleased to announce a further strengthening of its
senior technical team by appointing Mr. Richard G. Young, B.Sc. (Geol
Sciences), P. Eng as its consulting geologist and by forming a new Technical
Advisory Board.
    Rick Young has over 35 years of experience in the mining, mineral and
petroleum exploration industries and managing operations in government and in
research facilities. He holds a B.Sc. in Geological Sciences from
McGill University and has done post graduate work in petroleum geology and in
management at the University of Calgary. Rick started his career as an
exploration and mine geologist with Sherrit-Gordon Mines in Manitoba and
Ontario and later became an evaluation geologist at the Saskatchewan
Department of Mineral Resources. He subsequently managed operations and
projects at Indian Oil and Gas Canada and later managed a research facility
for Natural Resources Canada at Elliot Lake, Ontario before forming his own
consulting company. Rick is a member of the Association of Professional
Engineers and Geoscientists of both British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
    Firesteel's Technical Advisory Board (TAB) will be chaired by Mr. Mehner
and will advise the Board, management and technical team on all geoscientific
aspects of its operations. When fully formed, the TAB will be comprised of
eminent international geoscientists who have worked with the Company to
option, explore and develop its mineral properties in BC, the NWT and Mexico.
Firesteel will disclose further details of the TAB and its membership when the
group has been fully formed.
    In announcing these developments Mr. Walter Wakula, President and CEO of

    Firesteel is a junior exploration company which explores for and develops
quality precious and base metal prospects in British Columbia, the NWT and
Mexico. Firesteel has recently been actively drilling and trenching on its
Copper Creek property in northern British Columbia with strong indications of
copper and gold mineralization. Firesteel has entered the oil sands business
through its purchase of oil sands leases in the Peace River Area of Alberta
and through its shareholdings in Blacksteel Oil Sands Inc.
