Finalists announced for Aliant Get Green Student Video Contest



    Online voting begins to choose grand prize winner

    MONCTON, NB, Nov. 1 /CNW/ - Three student teams have been chosen as
finalists for the Aliant Get Green Student Video Contest. Online voting begins
today for the general public to select the grand prize winner. The winning
team and a chaperone will win an all-expense paid trip to the ecoRevolution
Conference, an international symposium on business and the environment, to be
held in Moncton, New Brunswick on November 27, 2007.
    "High school students from across Atlantic Canada have responded to the
Aliant Get Green Student Video Contest with their ideas and creativity on how
businesses and communities can work together to be more sustainable," said
Robyn Tingley, vice president of Communications and Public Affairs for Aliant.
"We sincerely thank all participants for their hard work and commitment and
look forward to the results of the online voting."
    Students from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador
submitted videos and teams of judges selected the finalist for their
respective province. The finalists are students from:

    
    - Tantramar Regional High School in Sackville, New Brunswick with
      Ecoholics Anonymous.
    - Avon View High School in Windsor, Nova Scotia with Matt's Commercial.
    - Marystown Central High School in Marystown, Newfoundland with Dying to
      Play.
    

    Each of the finalists will be rewarded with a $500 prize for their
schools' environmental endeavours. These prizes will be presented to the
students in the coming days.
    The general public can visit www.ecorevolution.ca/getgreen to view the
videos and vote for their favourite submission until November 12, 2007.
    The grand prize winner will be announced by November 15, 2007. In
addition to attending the international symposium on business and the
environment in Moncton, New Brunswick on November 27, 2007, the students will
also see their winning video featured at the conference.
