Top Tips for Surviving Holidays Without Weight Gain
TORONTO, Oct. 18 /CNW/ - With the holidays coming up fast and furious,
it's time to get serious about enjoying this special time of year without the
inherent weight gain. So here, thanks to the experts at Revolution Fitness,
are the 6 tips you need to post on your refrigerator:
1. Make a Pre-"New Years Resolution". Set a goal with a friend with a
deadline of December 31st and hold each other accountable daily. This
will help to maintain your focus on your health and fitness.
2. An object in motion tends to stay in motion. DO NOT give up your
fitness routine. Continue your fitness routine throughout the busy
holiday time - treat it as you would a business meeting and make sure
it remains an integral part of your week.
3. Have a "Before the Party" Party. Eat a healthy meal before you attend
a holiday party to curb your appetite and consume less of the
calorie-laden holiday treats.
4. "Wet" your appetite. Drink plenty of water during the day
(2 - 3 Litres). As we all know, water helps to fight dehydration and
fatigue. Proper hydration will also suppress your appetite and help
you to avoid overeating at holiday parties.
5. Just say no... or not so much. Asking people who enjoy celebrating
with a glass of wine to avoid alcohol all together is unrealistic.
But do yourself, your health, and your waistline a favour and limit
your alcohol consumption. That extra glass of wine at each party adds
6. Party like a kid. Over the holidays, take the party outside with
activities from your youth. Strike up a game of road hockey, build a
snowman or snow-fort, kick the can, play hide and seek, or red rover.
Not only will the party be memorable, but also a great workout. Build
as much physical activity into your gatherings as possible.
