TORONTO, Jan. 8 /CNW/ - Registration is open for the most exciting
sporting event in Canada as the 2008 Mitsubishi City Chase hits the ground
running in eight markets from coast to coast, backed by a major marketing
thrust from Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada, Inc. and its Canadian dealers.
Mitsubishi Canada supported this event as the title sponsor of the
Canadian leg of the World's Largest Urban Adventure Race Series in 2007 and
will increase its support for the fast-growing series in 2008.
The 2008 Mitsubishi City Chase series includes nine events in eight
markets, leading to the Canadian Championship event in September where the
winners of the events in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal,
Ottawa, Regina and Halifax face-off for the Canadian title. The winners of
that event will earn a new Mitsubishi Lancer and represent Canada at the World
Championship in October. Last year, the Canadian team of David Quaschnick and
James Dean (no not that James Dean) of Edmonton were crowned World Champions
at the global finale in Rome.
"We have pumped up the volume of our support of the Mitsubishi City Chase
this year with a stronger on-line presence, better coordination with our
dealers and some terrific enthusiasm from everyone at Mitsubishi Canada," said
Larry Futers, Director, National Marketing for Mitsubishi Motor Sales of
"Athleticism is the foundation of the Mitsubishi brand, and for a brand
known for its success in car rally's, The City Chase allows us to extend this
thinking by putting us along side some of the best urban athletes on the
planet - the Canadians who have made the Mitsubishi City Chase a 'must-do'
event on the calendar."
"The Mitsubishi tag line, 'Go far', really means a lot to anyone who has
ever seen the Mitsubishi City Chase," added Futers.
The Canadian City Chase adventure series has twice been voted "Best
Sporting Event in Canada" (Canadian Event Industry Awards), and is already the
Largest Urban Adventure Race Series in the world.
The City Chase is a unique urban adventure that requires participants to
exhibit teamwork, resourcefulness, determination and the ability to make
decisions on the fly as they search for ChasePoints scattered in unknown
locations throughout the city. Just like a road rally, the race tests the
teams of two through a variety of physical, mental and adventurous challenges.
"With the support and involvement of Mitsubishi, we are excited to build
on our successes by offering the unique City Chase experience to even more
Canadians. As title sponsor, Mitsubishi will have numerous and ongoing
opportunities for 2-way dialogue with the active urban participant
demographic, while integrating and showcasing Mitsubishi product in a natural
urban environment," said Nick Jelinek, City Chase creator.
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada, Inc. (MMSCAN), is the exclusive
Canadian distributor of a full line of Mitsubishi Motors' brand passenger cars
and sport utility vehicles. MMSCAN markets three categories of vehicles -
sedans, sporty cars and sport utility vehicles - consisting of six distinctive
vehicles covering a broad market range. This includes the Mitsubishi Lancer,
Galant, Eclipse, Eclipse Spyder, Outlander and Endeavor. Currently there are
67 Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide, with plans to increase this number over
the next three years.

a global consumer event series, offering unique experiential 1-day events in
various major markets throughout the world. A Canadian creation, CCI is based
in Toronto, Canada, and will execute events in 2007 in Canada, France,
