CALGARY, Dec. 22 /CNW/ - Failsafe Canada Inc. today announced that it has
released a new application called the Offset Quantification System (QSYS).
QSYS incorporates significant increases in functionality compared to its
predecessor EC Tracker including a web interface to provide additional ease of
use for data entry. New protocols have also been added which will be of
significant interest to the livestock industry especially feedlots. The new
protocols are: "Edible Oils", "Days on Feed" & "Beef Life Cycle". These new
protocols complement the existing "No- Till" protocol which is already
programmed into the application. These additional protocols have all been
approved by the Alberta government and Failsafe is in the process of selecting
a feedlot operator interested in being part of a pilot project to take
advantage of the opportunity. Under the Alberta Offset System rules projects
can claim credits as far back as 2002, if they meet the requirements of the
system and protocols. In an industry suffering from low prices and declining
margins this additional revenue source should be a welcome bonus. Failsafe
believes that QSYS will become the defacto standard for carbon offset
generation across a number of industries.
The three new protocols that have been added are expected to produce .50
of a ton of reduced CO2 emissions per animal. It is estimated that credits
sold for $7 - $13 per ton in the province of Alberta last year. Future prices
of carbon offsets in the province are expected to see substantial increases.
QSYS manages the entire lifecycle of greenhouse gas reduction projects.
The core elements of this enterprise solution include:
- Contact Management
- Document Management
- Supply Chain Management
- Credit creation, quantification, serialization and inventory
- Financial statements and other financial and operational reports
- Customer relationship and contract management
- Data warehousing and data/credit audit trail
The quantification, aggregation and subsequent sale of carbon offsets
embodies a number of interrelated business processes in addition to the
collection and management of enormous amounts of raw data required to generate
marketable verified carbon offsets. QSYS brings these processes and data
management requirements into a unified system designed to enable any
aggregator, regardless of size, to be successful in this new market place.
Failsafe Canada's is the leading system provider for organizations
looking to aggregate offset credits. QSYS is a proven system that creates,
tracks, and manages verified emissions reductions (VERs) within the
agriculture sector and will soon be able to handle other industry verticals
such as Biofuels, Afforestation, Wind and other renewable energy markets.
Failsafe Canada also provides technology, strategic consulting, and expert
operational services to assist in reducing costs and improving performance in
market operations, system operations support, and demand response programs.
Failsafe is a privately- held company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta,
