OTTAWA, May 4 /CNW Telbec/ - According to Statistics Canada, an average
Canadian woman in 2005 had approximately 1.5 kids. Being a mother is one of
the most important roles that a woman will play in her life. A loving mother
does a lot for the health of her children, but health research also focuses on
mothers themselves. For Mother's Day, let's think about the different aspects
of health related to being a mom.
CIHR-funded experts are available to talk about health issues related to
the most important woman in our life.

    Experts:
    --------

How can moms protect themselves and their children from the health
    hazards of second-hand smoke?
Dr. Joy Johnson, Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Gender and
    Health (Vancouver)

Pregnancy: not a reason to satisfy all your cravings! Preventing kids
    from obesity
Dr. Harvey Anderson, CIHR-funded researcher from the University of
    Toronto (Toronto)

Back to our roots! The recession's positive impacts on families' values
Dr. Hymie Anisman, CIHR-funded researcher from Carleton University

When tears of joy become tears of sadness: What can we do to help new
moms recover from postpartum depression and reconnect with their babies?
Dr. Nicole Letourneau, CIHR-funded researcher from the University of New
    Brunswick (Fredericton)
