Quebec-based regional airline expands and renews line and heavy
maintenance support contract valued at CAN$15 million over five years
MONTREAL, Jan. 16 /CNW Telbec/ - ExelTech Aerospace Inc. ("ExelTech
Aerospace", "ExelTech" or the "Company"), (TSX Venture: XLT), Canada's largest
publicly-listed commercial aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul
organization, today announced that it has expanded and renewed its contract to
provide line maintenance and heavy maintenance services for Val d'Or,
Quebec-based Air Creebec.
Air Creebec operates four Bombardier Dash 8 regional turboprops from a
hub in Montreal and three more from an operating base in Timmins, Ontario.
Under this exclusive agreement, estimated at CAN$15 million, ExelTech will
provide line support, including overnight maintenance, field repairs and
logistics for Air Creebec's Montreal-based Dash 8 fleet and major maintenance,
including structural inspections, repairs and modifications for all of Air
Creebec's Dash 8s.
Air Creebec is increasing the level of line support it is contracting
from ExelTech, becoming the Company's anchor customer in its Montreal line
maintenance facility. The Company will provide major maintenance at its Quebec
City Dash 8 heavy maintenance facility.
"Air Creebec and ExelTech have been growing together in the six years
since we signed our first contract with them, said David Bertrand, Director
General, Air Creebec. "We have been very pleased with the support the ExelTech
team has given us. They are clearly committed to meeting our needs, and we are
therefore delighted to be expanding the scope of our relationship and renewing
it for a further five years."
Air Creebec fulfills a vital role flying into remote communities in
northern Quebec, often providing the only transportation link available to the
people living there. This means high reliability is essential, despite the
extremes of weather found on the airline's network.
"The expansion of this contract is a testimonial to the hard work by a
very dedicated maintenance, planning and logistics team," said Martin
Laplante, ExelTech's Manager of Line Maintenance. "We enjoy working with the
airline professionals at Air Creebec, and we are pleased to be meeting their
very demanding requirements."
