MARKHAM, ON, Oct. 2 /CNW/ - OLTCA President David Cutler announced today
that Executive Director Karen Sullivan will be resigning her position
effective December 31st, 2007 to pursue a new and exciting career opportunity.
Mr. Cutler said, "Karen has advised the Board that she has accepted the
position of Senior Vice President Human Resources with Chartwell Seniors
Housing REIT to develop and manage the company's human resource strategies."
"While Karen's presence will be missed within both our Membership and the
sector," Mr. Cutler, said, "we also recognize that this decision is a
reflection of Karen's leadership and achievements as OLTCA's Executive
Director since 2001. Over the past six years she has fostered the growth of
OLTCA and strengthened its recognition and effectiveness as a voice for
enhancing Ontario's long term care services."
"While her colleagues, peers and others are aware of Karen's tireless
efforts to help place long term care issues, such as capital renewal and the
need for increased operating funding, on the political agenda we also
recognize that they are but part of Karen's legacy to OLTCA and its members
since she started work with the association in 1987."
Mr. Cutler said, "the Board, Members and staff join in expressing their
appreciation to Karen for her dedication and efforts on behalf of the needs of
long term care and wish her well in her future endeavours."
Karen will continue to actively lead the Association until year end as
the Board undertakes the process of recruiting her successor.
OLTCA represents the private, not-for-profit, charitable and municipal
operators of 430 long term care homes that provide care and services to some
50,000 residents throughout Ontario.
