OTTAWA, May 4 /CNW Telbec/ - The first REACH enforcement project, called
REACH-EN-FORCE-1, has started in Europe. Inspectors are now checking whether
companies have submitted a pre-registration, registration, and safety data
sheets where applicable. This project sends a strong message on the level of
compliance expected of manufacturers and importers, including Only
Representatives, with REACH in the European Union. Unregistered substances
will no longer be able to be produced or imported into the EU.
Intertek (www.intertek.com), the leading provider of quality and safety
services to a wide range of industries, provides compliance support solutions
for REACH. Solutions include a REACH certification program to effectively
prove compliance to customers and enforcement bodies, enabling companies to
continue their business in the EU market.
The REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of
Chemical Substances) requires all chemical substances that are manufactured in
or imported in the EU in the quantity of more than 1 ton per year need to be
registered with the EU Chemicals Agency (ECHA). The pre-registration of
chemicals began in 1st June 2008. The subsequent registration will be carried
out over the course of 11 years in three stages.
Intertek offers the full range of REACH compliance support services
