Irving Schwartz receives the 2008 Atlantic Lifetime Achievement Award

century building on his entrepreneurial spirit to create great things in
Atlantic Canada and across the country. Today, he was named Ernst & Young
Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008 Atlantic Lifetime Achievement award in
recognition of his innumerable contributions to the regional and national

In the first 30 years of his career, Irving expanded Schwartz and Company
Limited from a local company to a thriving retail business. With the continued
success of Schwartz and Company Limited, he began investing in local and
national projects ranging from long-term care to cable services. This year
alone he has invested in four start-up Maritime companies. Mr. Schwartz's
entrepreneurialism also extends to philanthropy. He co-founded the Canadian
International Demining Corps and was inducted into the Order of Canada for his
efforts to ban the world's landmines.

Irving Schwartz will be presented with the award and honoured at the
Ernst & Young Atlantic Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Banquet in Halifax at
the Marriott Harbourfront Hotel on October 9, 2008.
